Umama & Fahid | Walima

Last month I got to shoot my first Walima! For those of you who don’t know (I didn’t) a Walima is a traditional Muslim marriage banquet. It is the second of the two traditional parts of an Islamic wedding; the first part is called the nikah or marriage ceremony. Essentially it is comparable to the wedding reception held at most weddings in the area.

Umama and Fahid were so kind and welcoming. I literally could not stop staring at her gorgeous dress the entire time! It turns out Umama is a girl after my own heart and asked me to do some jumping photos (my favorite)! In her stiletto heels and incredibly heavy looking dress the two kept jumping away until I got that perfect shot! So much fun!
